In 2009 the YMCA of Greater Houston made it their mission to increase the graduation rate for students who attend Houston Independent School District. As a result, the YMCA Children's Academy at Wisdom High School was created.

Their mission is to keep young, teen age mothers in school and help them to obtain a high school diploma by providing an on-site early child care program. Wisdom High School is a United Way Bright Beginnings program.

The child care program is located in a classroom designed specifically for infant, toddler, and preschool children and is licensed through the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Child Care Licensing. Wisdom High School opened a beautiful new campus and the space for child care is terrific.

The program operates with the school calendar and last summer was opened for summer school.

They accept infants age 6 weeks through 3 years although they are seeking to increase the age to 5 years.
